The Kreidberg-Schumacher laboratory at the BIDMC offers an opportunity for a medical student to join a friendly and supportive scientific environment performing cutting edge molecular biology research related to glomerular kidney disease, including translational studies aimed at repairing injured kidneys. We are particularly interested in a key cell type called the podocytye, that is crucial to maintaining the filtration barrier in the kidney. Injury to podocytes is the major incipient factor in most human kidney diseases. Students will work with the Principal Investigator and will take on projects related to the ongoing projects of the laboratory.
