Overview
I am a pediatric neurologist with a clinical practice in pediatric stroke and leadership roles in medical education at all levels (UME, GME, and CME). I am passionate about using my clinical expertise as well as innovative approaches to interprofessional and multidisciplinary education to improve the care of children with neurologic illness.

Although pediatric neurological disorders are common, especially in children with complex health care needs, general pediatrics training provides limited exposure to pediatric neurology. One of my projects to address this need focuses on the teaching of the pediatric neurological examination to residents in general pediatrics through an observed examination experience. I have developed a structured observation form to support this, but would welcome a student to take the lead on the next steps in validating the form. The student could also be involved in assessing the impact of this observed examination program, and take the lead on writing it up for publication. I would welcome students interested in medical education research and/or careers as clinician-educators to partner with me in this and other education projects. Length of time commitment would depend on which aspects of the project the student is interested in. Funding is not currently available, but there are a number of grants to which we could apply.

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
