Overview
Internal medicine physician and hospitalist with experience in critical (Emergency-ICU) and post-critical care. Currently, working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Smith Center for Outcomes Research in Cardiology, BIDMC, Harvard Medical School, with the main project targeting to assess the long-term effectiveness and value of Cardiac Rehabilitation in understudied populations, using new methods for causal inference, such as target trial emulations. Recently, he attended the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health CAUSALab seminars (2024) and has a scholarship in medical education at the Shapiro Institute, BIDMC, Harvard Medical School (2024-2025), with focus on digital education and the use of AI on medical education.

He is also part of the Internal Medicine Department at Hospital Moinhos de Vento, Porto Alegre, Brazil, working on projects targeting healthcare disparity and affordability in Brazil.

Among other projects, he is working on methods to improve the understanding of long-term value for new therapies from different perspectives, including the analysis related to obesity and new drugs with cardiovascular potential to treat this disease. His main research interests include outcomes research using large databases, health economics analysis, and innovative methods to assess causality including trial emulation and pragmatic clinical trials design.

Prior contributions include the work as a reviewer for the Portuguese translation of Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine (21st edition) and as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) instructor for the American Heart Association in Brazil.
