Dr. Adrienne Randolph has been leading a 27-center study to determine host risk factors for life-threatening and fatal influenza infection in infants and children. Funded by NIH/NIAID, she has enrolled over 300 influenza-infected children across the United States and collected extensive clinical data, blood and respiratory samples. The medical student will work on a subproject to evaluate the role of one or more risk factors. The medical student may also help to enroll patients in the study, will do some sample processing in Dr. Randolph's laboratory, and will assist with data analysis and interpretation.
