Overview
I am an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH)/Harvard Medical School (HMS), and an Affiliate Assistant Professor of Biomedical Informatics at HMS Department of Biomedical Informatics. I also serve as the Vice President and Chief Data & Analytics Officer for Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Most of my time is dedicated to the latter role as an executive leader at CHOP, where I lead the Data and Analytics (DnA) team, who is responsible for several portfolios including data trust and enablement, data and analytics services, data platforms, advanced analytics and data science.
My research focuses on the use of data science and informatics to measure and improve quality, safety and value of health care. This includes modeling and measuring medication safety, investigating order entry errors, implementing solutions to reduce wrong-patient errors, studying the mechanisms and risk factors leading to hospital-acquired infections such as C. diff. infections or catheter-association urinary tract infections (CAUTIs), and examining the role of electronic health record systems (EHRs) on provider behaviors as it relates to quality and safety.
