Overview

Mentoring
Available: 09/01/24, Expires: 12/31/24

The ideal candidate is interested in image-guided therapy and medical devices. Our lab's research emphasizes the clinical deployment of novel imaging, computing tools, and robots.  More specifically, the student will work on analyzing MRI images of deep brain stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson's Disease (PD). PD exerts a profound impact on society, afflicting approximately 6.1 million individuals globally, with a marked surge in incidence over the past two decades. DBS is an effective surgical intervention addressing the complexities of advanced PD, particularly when targeting the subthalamic nucleus (STN). We are interested in exploring the detailed and extensive retrospective data of MRI-guided DBS surgeries and analyzing the impact of targeting selection on patient outcomes. A typical day will include: Analyzing retrospective clinical data Developing algorithms for image processing Discuss clinical needs and requirements with the team. Work in a multidisciplinary team

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
