This opportunity is aligned with a multi-year study funded by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. The overall objective of the study is to identify opportunties for state-level policy interventions to reduce disparities in injury outcomes by improving equity in access to and quality of trauma surgery. The study includes both qualitative and quantitative components and the students' role can be tailored to desired skillsets and professional goals. The opportunity is also flexible with respect to timing and duration, with potential to accommodate discrete scholarly projects or a full-time research year. Potential roles include collection of primary survey data via phone interviews, analysis of survey data and health care administrative data, and collection/analysis of qualitative data. The student will have the opportunity to contribute to multiple peer reviewed manuscripts, with opportunities for lead authorship contingent on satisfactory completion assigned research tasks.
