Overview
I am an Instructor in Neurology at Harvard Medical School and the Clinical Trials Director at the McCance Center for Brain Health at Mass General Hospital. I lead cutting-edge research and clinical trials in the field of nutritional neuroscience, blood-brain barrier function and brain health. I have over 17 years of experience in conducting clinical and translational research among interdisciplinary teams in the US and abroad that aim to prevent and treat neurodegenerative and neurovascular conditions through individualized nutritional therapies in medicine.

With an ND and an MPH credentials bolstered by NIH sponsored post doctoral and career development support, I have gained a unique combination of skills and credentials that enable my ability to bridge the gap between naturopathic and conventional (allopathic) medicine, and to apply molecular biomarkers, epidemiology and biostatistics in observational and interventional studies to better understand the complex interactions between nutrients, genes, and brain function. My group established the modern "nutrient biomarker" and "nutrient biomarker pattern analysis" as a rigorous, reliable and valid indicator of diet quality and pools of nutrients available to brain for consumption. I have secured or established multiple NIH and industry grants, and international consortiums and partnerships to develop and test innovative tools and therapies, from medical foods to natural products and other novel therapeutics to blood tests of nutrition and blood brain barrier function. My passion is in the advancement of science and practice in healthy brain aging and Alzheimer's disease prevention, and strive to disseminate knowledge and expertise among diverse audiences and stakeholders. I am the first Naturopathic Physician faculty member in the history of Harvard Medical School.

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
