Dr. Traynor is a clinical psychologist with a strong interest in borderline personality disorder (BPD) and trauma-related disorders. Her program of research uses brain imaging and cognitive assessments to identify markers of suicide risk and predict treatment response in people with life-threatening behaviors. She is also focused on developing new treatments to reduce suicide risk and improve interpersonal functioning in people at high risk of suicide, such as those with BPD and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Specifically, Dr. Traynor is interested in combining neurotherapeutics (e.g., brain stimulation, psychedelics) with talk therapy to create more effective and individualized treatments for BPD and PTSD. Dr. Traynor joined the faculty at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School in 2021 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. She is a licensed clinical psychologist in Massachusetts USA and Ontario, Canada with extensive clinical training in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) for BPD, and evidence-based interventions for PTSD and trauma. She is also certified in MDMA-assisted psychotherapy by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS).
