Overview
As a biostatistician working at the Division of Preventive Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, my research interests are three-fold:
1) conducting biomarker discovery studies using high throughput metabolomics and other -omics data;
2) analysis of Electronic Health Records data;
3) methodological statistical research on building valid risk prediction models.
My clinical research focuses on the mechanistic pathways of cardiovascular disease development and progression.

    Flexible Framework for Cardiovascular Risk Prediction in a Clinical Setting
    Role Description: The goal of this grant is to evaluate the improvement in prediction using a Flexible Framework. This framework can handle limited information or additional risk factors by combining multiple risk models including both externally derived and validated risk scores as well as models using historic EHR data.

    CHD Risk and Metabolomic Profiles of Discordant Lipids
    Role Description: Accurate assessment of cardiovascular risk in the clinical setting is important for appropriate management and counseling of patients. Current US guidelines focus on a single risk score, which does not facilitate inclusion of additional known risk factors or allow for assessment of risk with more limited information, both of which occur in clinical practice. With the growing availability of electronic health record (EHR) data, methods for using all available information to succinctly identify the best course of care are increasingly important. This grant will evaluate the improvement in prediction using a Flexible Framework. This framework can handle limited information or additional risk factors by combining multiple risk models including both externally derived and validated risk scores as well as models using historic EHR data. The results of this project will form the basis for subsequent development of a cloud-based tool for use across software platforms.
