Overview
I am the Interim Director of Psychology and Director of Psychology Training at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Currently, I am the Internship Training Director for psychology internship training program. I direct the psychology externship programs within Inpatient Psychiatry and Ambulatory Psychology. I previously served for 4 years as the Site Director for an American Psychological Association accredited pre-doctoral internship training program in psychology at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital. I provide clinical supervision of psychology interns and psychiatry residents within the Psychiatry Residency Training Program at this site. I have previously served as the VA Boston Healthcare System Psychology Internship Site Director for the Brockton/ West Roxbury campuses, responsible for site administration and clinical supervision development. Nationally, I have regularly presented on supervision development for psychologists and have multiple education publications. As recognition of my contributions in education, I was awarded the Nga Pham Excellence in Psychology Education Award in 2016.

A specific focus of my teaching and educational leadership is within the domain of diversity education. I co-founded, and currently co-chair, the BWH Psychiatry Diversity and Inclusion Committee. In 2019, we received a BWH Aspire Grant to support recruitment and retention efforts in the department for underrepresented minorities. I have developed Healthcare Equality Index survey applications for the Human Rights Campaign at Brigham and Women’s Hospitals, which were recognized with Leader designation. In 2019 I was awarded a BWH Pillar Award for diversity and inclusion efforts. I have previously served as the chair of the Psychology Diversity and Inclusion Committee at VA Boston Healthcare System. In 2012, I received a 3.5-year educational research grant from the American Psychological Association to increase culturally competent clinical practice within the VA Boston Healthcare System’s 250+ faculty and trainees in mental health. Activities included organizing and hosting local, regional and national leaders to present educational colloquia, developing a multicultural multimedia library and researching educational outcomes. My co-PI for this grant is a former pre-doctoral psychology intern who was a previously supervisee and mentee. For this work I received the HMS Harold Amos Faculty Diversity Award from the Office for Diversity Inclusion and Community Partnership in 2013.

I have clinical expertise in the areas of serious mental illness, gender diversity and tobacco cessation, via clinical leadership, grant funding, editorial roles, and scholarships with 20 peer-reviewed publications. I am the Director of Inpatient Psychiatry Psychosocial Programming, leading the transformation of the inpatient service into an empirically-supported and recovery-oriented care setting, including integration of peer recovery services. I also developed a Gender Diversity Clinic and co-founded the Transgender Clinic at BWH. In 2013, I was awarded a VA Public Health program grant to develop patient education materials for tobacco cessation, materials that have been disseminated nationally within the VA. In 2013, we were awarded an Innovation Grant from the VA to expand recovery-oriented care. In 2014, under my leadership, we were awarded training support to improve tobacco cessation for persons with mental health and substance use problems.
