Overview
My research focuses in the role of vitamin D and its analogs to cardiovascular diseases as well as the complex interactions between the heart and the kidney (cardio-renal syndrome).

Our research team has several ongoing project both in the basic and clinical fronts. In the former, we are evaluating novel pathways that have a crucial role in cardiovascular and kidney diseases with the help of genetic tools. In the latter, we are analyzing data from a large international, multi-center, placebo-controlled clinical trial (NCT00497146) and we are currently enrolling patients with chronic kidney disease in both observational (NCT01427374) and interventional trials (NCT00892099).

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
