Overview
Dr. Cindy Liu is the Director of the Developmental Risk and Cultural Resilience Laboratory at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. She has appointments within the Departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at Brigham and Women's Hospital. As a licensed clinical psychologist, she serves as the Director of the NICU Parent Mental Health Program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Liu’s research focuses on stress and mental health across the lifespan with a focus on underrepresented groups. She is currently a principal investigator for several studies, including the Perinatal Experiences and COVID-19 Effects (PEACE) Study, a longitudinal study that focuses on psychosocial experiences of pregnant and postpartum women and their children, and the COVID-19 Adult Resilience Experiences Study (CARES) which focuses on mental health and well-being in young adults. She is also the principal investigator of the Building Our Bonds Authentically (BOBA) Project, a study funded by three National Institutes of Health grants that examines how Chinese American teens learn about the Asian identity within their family, their peers, and social media. Her work has been funded by federal grants through the National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation, foundations, and philanthropy, and featured in various outlets including the New York Times, USA Today, and CBS News. In 2023, she received Clarivate’s Highly Cited designation, awarded to scientists having the top 1% of citations.
