Alon Peltz, MD MBA MHS is a health services researcher who studies health insurance policy and health disparities. His research spans the domains of social determinants of health, quality measurement, and risk-prediction modeling. His current work focuses on measuring equity in telehealth service use during the COVID-19 pandemic, enhancing clinical risk-prediction models by incorporating robust social data, and identifying racial bias in machine learning algorithms. He is the Medical Director for Health Equity at Point32Health where he supports efforts to improve quality of care and reduce health disparities. Prior to joining the Department of Population Medicine, Dr. Peltz served as Associate Medical Director for Payment and Care Delivery Innovation for Massachusetts Medicaid (MassHealth), where he helped lead quality programs for Medicaid ACO, MCO, and Community Partner Programs. His work with the Yale Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation has contributed to the development of the CMS Disparity Methods, which are now used to measure equity in outcomes for Medicare beneficiaries in all U.S. acute care hospitals. Dr. Peltz received his MD and MBA degrees from Vanderbilt University where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He received his clinical training at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center. Dr. Peltz went on to complete health services research fellowship in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program at Yale University, where he studied public policy changes related to the Affordable Care Act and impacts on cost, quality, and affordability. He has worked as a visiting researcher at the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission and the CMS Innovation Center. Dr. Peltz is a general pediatrician and sees patients at Boston Children’s Hospital.
