Overview
Dr. Lee's research focuses on global perinatal epidemiology and the design and evaluation of interventions to reduce the major causes of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. She directs the Brigham and Women's Global Advancement of Infants and Mothers (AIM) lab.
Current research projects include the:
* Evaluation of the impact of a package of antenatal care interventions to optimize maternal nutrition and infection control on maternal and newborn health outcomes in Ethiopia (the "ENAT" study);
* Evaluation of the impact of screening-and-treatment programs for maternal genitourinary tract infections on perinatal outcomes Sylhet Bangladesh;
* Development and validation of methods of estimating gestational age before and after birth;
* Development and validation of a novel tool, the Bili-ruler, to improve jaundice screening in low income settings;
* Investigation of the vaginal microbiome and inflammatory responses associated with bacterial vaginosis infection and preterm birth;
* Estimation of the global burden of disease of fetal growth restriction and preterm birth and their risk factors

Role Description: The specific aim of this study was to determine the impact of community-based screening and treatment of abnormal vaginal flora and urinary tract infections in early pregnancy on adverse pregnancy outcomes in Sylhet district, Bangladesh.
