Septum of Brain

"Septum of Brain" is a descriptor in the National Library of Medicine's controlled vocabulary thesaurus, MeSH (Medical Subject Headings). Descriptors are arranged in a hierarchical structure, which enables searching at various levels of specificity.

Gray matter structures of the telencephalon and limbic system in the brain, but containing widely varying definitions among authors. Included here is the cortical septal area, subcortical SEPTAL NUCLEI, and the SEPTUM PELLUCIDUM. Many authorities consider the septal region to be made up of the septal area and the septal nuclei, but excluding the septum pellucidum.
