Integrin beta Chains

"Integrin beta Chains" is a descriptor in the National Library of Medicine's controlled vocabulary thesaurus, MeSH (Medical Subject Headings). Descriptors are arranged in a hierarchical structure, which enables searching at various levels of specificity.

Integrin beta chains combine with integrin alpha chains to form heterodimeric cell surface receptors. Integrins have traditionally been classified into functional groups based on the identity of one of three beta chains present in the heterodimer. The beta chain is necessary and sufficient for integrin-dependent signaling. Its short cytoplasmic tail contains sequences critical for inside-out signaling.

This graph shows the total number of publications written about "Integrin beta Chains" by people in Harvard Catalyst Profiles by year, and whether "Integrin beta Chains" was a major or minor topic of these publication.
