Overview
Our research program, based in Mbarara, Uganda and Durban, South Africa, aims to improve health and quality of life for people living with HIV in low-income countries. This program of work includes:

1) clinical trials to evaluate scalable interventions to improve HIV care delivery, and reduce treatment failure and drug resistance
2) translational research to determine the effects of HIV infection on cardiovascular disease and aging;
3) large, population-based studies to elucidate the intersecting communicable and non-communicable disease epidemics

In addition, I practice clinical infectious diseases in both Boston and South Africa, and am the primary mentor to over a dozen trainees and junior faculty, and have been recognized for this with the Harvard Medical School Young Mentor Award.

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
