Congenital Diarrheas and Enteropathies are rare genetic disorders resulting in chronic and often life-threatening diarrhea in infants and children. These disorders usually present early in infancy and result from monogenic mutations in genes that control intestinal epithelial function. The lab conducts a wide variety of basic, translational and clinical research related to these disorders including novel gene discovery and functional validation, the cell biology and physiology of known disorders using primary organoid models and translational therapeutics projects. Students can chose a project suited to their interests across the following areas: bioinformatics, cell biology /physiology, assay development and screening, clinical cohort analysis.
