The objective of this project is to analyze patient outcomes as it relates to surgery for lung cancer, postoperative care, and oncologic outcomes. The bulk of the role includes data entry to our 1500+ patient lung cancer database. As well as performing literature reviews, developing hypotheses, basic statistical analysis, analysis of data and assist on manuscript writing. There is opportunity to observe thoracic surgery cases in the OR. The student will gain knowledge on how to interpret data. It is expected to be able to dedicate at least 5 hours/ week, attend weekly lab meetings, submit a poster or video to a meeting and write at least 1 paper as first or second author. Enthusiasm and attention to detail are important, experience in data/statistical analysis are not required, but helpful.
