Cardiovascular group in the Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School) is seeking multiple qualified and enthusiastic students interested in experimental and computational cardiac electrophysiology. Projects are student specific, please contact for more details. Lab Mission: To use experimental and computational approaches to study the mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias from the myocyte to the whole organ level Research Area I: The project involves participating in clinical trials currently underway in the Division of Cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, with the intent to diagnose, prevent or treat atrial or ventricular arrhythmias. The prospective applicant will also participate in developing and/or employing signal processing tools of electrocardiographic signals. Research Area II: The prospective applicant will be performing experiments in cardiac myocytes using state-of-the-art methodologies, including whole-cell patch-clamping and fluorescence imaging, aiming in (i) improving our understanding of the patho-physiology of myocytes from failing hearts and (ii) designing novel therapies to slow or inhibit the progression of the disease.

The mission of the laboratory is to use advanced experimental and computational approaches to study the mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias from the myocyte to the whole organ level.

The interested individual(s) will function as part of a multi-disciplinary team of life scientists, engineers and clinicians. The candidate will benefit from the rich intellectual environment of the Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC) at the Massachusetts General Hospital. The state of the art facilities, numerous postdoctoral fellows, journal clubs and seminar series at CVRC provide the ideal environment for advancement of his/her research career.

No prior experience is required.
