Overview
Dr Shah trained in medicine at Dow Medical College with a residency in Pediatrics in Chicago and fellowship at Children's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. Her work has included research in mucosal immunology, viral hepatitis and cystic fibrosis.

She was the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Pakistan. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health Pakistan, World Health Organization and UNICEF, she has contributed extensively to major regional development in Child Health and Global Health Programs against Viral Hepatitis.
She worked as the Director of Research at Harvard Medical School Dubai, with a mandate to develop the Research Master Plan for the region and served as an academic lead for the development of a 300 bed University Hospital and on the steering committee for a 200 bed Pediatric facility. She led the development of Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology at the Dubai Medical Suites.

She is currently an Associate Professor at HMS, Clinical Chief , Pediatric Gastroenterology, the Chief of the Hepatobiliary and Pancreas Program in Pediatrics at Mass General Hospital for Children (MGHfC) and the Medical Director of the Pediatric Liver Transplant Program.

Her research interests include viral hepatitis, inherited metabolic liver disease, liver transplantation , chronic pancreatitis and Global Health.
