We currently have an exciting, ongoing clinical trial entitled the Study to Assess and Monitor Brain Activity (SAMBA). Delirium is a neuropsychiatric disturbance of attention and awareness with no FDA approved therapies. Affecting more than 20% of hospitalized older adults, delirium is associated with subsequent dementia and hastened death. Because delirium is dynamic and fluctuating, understanding its causes and course remains challenging. In our SAMBA trial we are using new wearable and wireless EEG devices with AI deep learning analysis to track and understand how hospitalized patients can think. We are looking for medical students interesting in participating in various phases of the project, including learning to evaluate delirium in the hospital, learning to develop and apply wireless EEG and other low-touch devices, and speaking to people in follow-up to understand the long-term effects of delirium. Start Date: Ongoing with flexible mix of remote and in person part-time work

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
