Overview
Juan R. Martinez-Francois is a Lecturer on Neurobiology in the laboratory of Gary Yellen. He studies the molecular mechanisms linking metabolism and neuronal excitability with the hope of understanding, and possibly treating, epilepsy. Specifically, he is interested in the role of ATP-sensitive potassium channels in regulating the excitability of hippocampal neurons and in preventing epileptic seizures.
