Dr. Daniel M. Blumenthal is a general and preventive cardiologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH)

Dr. Blumenthal received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College (2002, Magna Cum Laude in Government), his medical doctorate from Harvard Medical School (HMS; 2011), and his Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School (2011). He completed his internship, internal medicine residency, and cardiology fellowship at the MGH and HMS and joined the MGH and HMS faculty in 2017.

Dr. Blumenthal is a faculty member of the Cardiology Division at MGH and HMS. His clinical interests include primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease, and the management of lipid disorders, coronary artery disease, and congestive heart failure. Dr. Blumenthal is a past recipient of the Roman W. DeSanctis Clinical Scholar Award (2015), the American Heart Association’s Laennec Young Clinician Award (2017), and the Harvard Medical School John S. LaDue Memorial Fellowship (2017). Dr. Blumenthal is an accomplished health services and cardiovascular disease outcomes researcher whose previous work has focused on innovations in payment model design, quality improvement in cardiology, and leadership development. Dr. Blumenthal has published over 60 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and numerous additional pieces in the lay press, including in the New York Times, Harvard Business Review, and Newsweek.
