The student will work independently or with a post-doctoral fellow on a well-defined basic science or translational research project. The overall goal of this work is to define the molecular mechanisms by which diabetes promotes cardiovascular disease.

Description: The prevalence of obesity is rising at alarming rates in our nation. Yet, we still do not understand how, or even if, obesity causes the many disorders associated with it. The mission of the Biddinger lab is to define the molecular chain of events which link obesity and diabetes with cardiovascular disease and fatty liver disease. Ultimately, we hope to identify better treatments for individuals with the obesity and diabetes. We are seeking highly motivated students with some prior wet lab experience. Projects will be based on the interests of the student, but will include biochemical, molecular, cellular, proteomic and/or mouse genetic approaches.
