Overview
The goal of my work is to identify effective strategies for families to obtain and use health insurance coverage so they can access needed care without incurring financially burdensome costs. My research examines the impact of health insurance design on decision making, health care, and health outcomes for children and families. Most recently, this has focused on high-deductible health insurance plans and health insurance exchange plans with the goal of informing policy making with rigorous evidence.

For my teaching activities, I have been a tutorial leader in the Clinical Epidemiology and Population Health course for Harvard Medical Students. My other teaching activities include precepting medical students and pediatric residents from the Boston Combined Residency Program in the Primary Care Clinic at Children’s Hospital Boston, where I also provide direct patient care in the urgent care clinic once a week.

Mentoring
Available: 03/15/18, Expires: 06/29/21

This ongoing project uses health plan claims data and interview data to understand the impact of value-based insurance design strategies to mitigate the cost burden for families with asthma in high-deductible health plans. This project also allows for studies of health care utilization and adherence for children, adults, and families with asthma.

Available: 03/15/18, Expires: 05/31/20

This ongoing project uses longitudinal survey, health plan claims, and qualitative interview data to understand family decision making in non-group health insurance plans on and off the ACA Marketplaces

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication.
