Overview
Dr. Sarah Zahakos' interests are in the policy, political and legal aspects that influence equitable access to quality health care. Her current research investigates the political and financial confluences involved in sustaining urban hospitals. Her work draws on a variety of approaches, including legal, qualitative, quantitative, and geo-spatial analyses.

Dr. Zahakos earned her Ph.D. degree in health services research from Boston University School of Public Health. At Boston University, she was an Agency for Health Research and Quality T32 pre-doctoral fellow and a research fellow at Boston University's Institute for Health System Innovation and Policy. Before pursuing her Ph.D., she worked as a health budget analyst at the New York State Assembly Ways and Means Committee.

At the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Dr. Zahakos continues her research to help expand and sustain equitable access to health care.
