Overview
Dr. John "Nick" Shumate is a Harvard Clinical Fellow and current resident psychiatrist in the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center's Harvard Psychiatry Training Program. He sees a diverse population of patients with a wide range of acute and chronic mental illness for both medication management and psychotherapy. He received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He is also a licensed (inactive) attorney with experience in high-stakes corporate law as well as in judicial education. He received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School where he served on the Editorial Board of the Michigan Law Review. Nick has also served on multiple other editorial boards both scholarly and creative.

His scholarly interests include medicolegal topics, forensic psychiatry, AAPI mental health research, mental health topics related to transracial adoption, and emerging technologies in the mental health space.
