Overview
Dr. Timothy Anderson is a clinician-investigator in the Division of General Medicine at BIDMC, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and the Lead for Improving Value in Healthcare at the BIDMC Center for Healthcare Delivery Science. Dr. Anderson's primary research interests are identifying strategies to improve the quality of care delivered to older adults with chronic conditions and to reduce the delivery of low-value prescribing and diagnostic testing. His research utilizes advanced observational research methods to improve our understanding of the outcomes of healthcare delivered to patients in the hospital, in the clinic, and during transitions of care. Dr. Anderson greatly enjoys mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows interested in health services and health policy research.

Dr. Anderson additionally serves as a member of the Society for General Internal Medicine national research committee, an associate editor for the Journal of General Internal Medicine, and as affiliate faculty at the BIDMC Hypertension Center at Healthcare Associates and the BIDMC Smith Center for Outcomes Research in Cardiology.

In addition to his research activities, Dr. Anderson is an academic primary care physician where he cares for patients, teaches residents, and supports clinical innovation at the BIDMC Healthcare Associates Clinic.

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
