Overview
Evan M. Benjamin, MD, MS, FACP is Chief Medical Officer at Ariadne Labs, a joint center of healthcare innovation at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Public Health. He is associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and part of the Division of General Internal Medicine at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, and associate professor in Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health.

As CMO he provides oversight, guidance and support to Ariadne Labs research faculty, ensuring that Ariadne's findings are supported by rigorous evidence and result in clinically meaningful change. Dr Benjamin mentors faculty and research scientists and works with individuals to enhance faculty research. His conducts his own research in patient safety and health quality measurement and innovation. In Addition, Dr Benjamin works in close collaboration with Ariadne's founder, Dr Atul Gawande, to develop and expand Ariadne's strategic partnerships and to raise the profile of Ariadne as a global leader in health systems innovation. Dr Benjamin teaches healthcare quality, patient safety, and principles of reliability at the medical school and at the school of public health.

Prior to his role at Harvard, Dr Benjamin was SVP and Chief Quality and Population Health Officer at Baystate Health and Baystate Medical Center in Massachusetts and Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. Over a 20 year career at Baystate and Tufts he created quality improvement, patient safety and population health improvement tools, and co-founded the Center for Quality of Care Research and TechSpring, the Health IT innovation center.
