Our current research focuses on neuro-inflammation and the development of drugs targeting microglia and astrocytes in neurodegenerative and psychiatric diseases. We are pursuing validation of novel approaches to transport drugs across the blood brain barrier. In addition, we are advancing the application of these transport approaches and novel blood brain barrier models, synthetic biology, and immune materials to probe fundamental neurobiological and neuro-inflammatory processes, and to translate these approaches into discovery and development of novel CNS-directed therapeutics.
