Thanks to modern antiretroviral medications, people with HIV now have near-normal life expectancy and preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is nearly 100% effective in preventing HIV acquisition. Nevertheless, people with HIV and PrEP users continue to be denied life and disability insurance, with these outdated policies being driven by misinformation and stigma rather than evidence. The editor-in-chief of the Journal of Insurance Medicine has invited a manuscript that summarizes the key messages of a keynote presentation that Dr. Marcus recently gave on this topic, including data from her research on life expectancy for people with HIV and the effectiveness of HIV PrEP. Under the guidance of Dr. Marcus, the student will be expected to lead the manuscript as first author, including drafting, submitting, and revising the paper as needed. This work can be conducted either in person or remotely.

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
