Despite having being a democracy in the 20th century, Venezuela is undergoing a severe humanitarian crisis that has driven the country to unprecedented misery in Latin America. In 2019 we started upcycling soon-to-expire or recently-expired, unused lab supplies by shipping them to teaching hospitals in Caracas. These lab goods have increased access to lab diagnostics for patients in most need. Multiple entities within BWH joined the initiative and started upcycling with us, therefore increasing our impact. Additionally, we started acquiring and shipping medical supplies for clinical care to enable the rural programs of a Venezuelan medical school that works with native tribes in the Amazon. We need fresh minds and hands to help us think of innovative ways to measure and increase our impact, designing data collection instruments, writing grant proposals, and handling the increasing volume of supplies that we are packing and shipping.

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
