I lead a consortium of the world's leading experts in germ cell tumors that encompasses basic science, clinical science, epidemiology and survivorship-the Malignant Germ Cell International Consortium or MaGIC (https://magicconsortium.com/). What makes this consortium unique is that we draw from all medical and science specialities that are relevant to germ cell tumors--from stem cell biology, pathology, surgery, medical and pediatric oncology, epidemiology, data science, statistics.
We have a created a data commons of the clinical trial data from around the world.
Using this data set, the student could conduct an independent research project on clinical questions of interest to the community that could help inform future clinical trial design.
As part of this work, the student could join the teams designing the next set of clinical trials and any of our other subcommittees that would be of interest. For instance, we are in the early stages of planning for a SPORE grant, setting up a virtual international tumor board, etc.
