Overview
I am an infectious disease physician at Massachusetts General Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. My research interests include the cost-effectiveness of interventions to promote maternal and child health in resource-limited settings and the evaluation and implementation of diagnostics and screening algorithms for infectious diseases such as SARS-CoV-2, mpox, and tuberculosis.

    MGH DOM Transformative Scholars Award
Cost-effectiveness of maternal Group B Strep screening in sub-Saharan Africa
Role Description: The goal of this award is to expand the MatCH microsimulation model to incorporate details of maternal Group B Strep (GBS) diagnosis and management and then use the expanded model to project the clinical impact, cost, and cost-effectiveness of maternal GBS screening in sub-Saharan Africa, considering outcomes for both mothers and babies.
    Role: Primary Investigator
  2. K08HD101342 (DUGDALE, CAITLIN) Mar 2, 2020 - Feb 28, 2025
    NIH
Modeling the Effects of HIV, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea in Mother-Infant Pairs in Botswana.
Role Description: The objective of this project is to develop a new Maternal-Child Health (MatCH) microsimulation model and to use this model to project the long-term clinical outcomes, costs, and cost-effectiveness of antenatal chlamydia and gonorrhea screening strategies in Botswana to improve maternal health, prevent adverse birth outcomes, and reduce vertical transmission of HIV, chlamydia, and gonorrhea.
    Role: Principal Investigator
  3. R01HD079214 (CIARANELLO, ANDREA LYNNE) Jul 1, 2014 - Jun 30, 2024
    NIH/NICHD
Innovation across the spectrum of pediatric HIV care
Role Description: The purpose of this project is to use the CEPAC-Pediatrics model to determine the optimal placement of diagnostic technologies for pediatric HIV and to evaluate the most effective and cost-effective ways to implement new ARV guidelines and formulations for children, including the rollout of dolutegravir.
    Role: Co-Investigator
  4. R37AI058736 (FREEDBERG, KENNETH ALAN) Jul 1, 2004 - Jul 31, 2028
    NIH
Optimizing HIV Care in Less Developed Countries
Role Description: This study assesses the clinical impact and cost-effectiveness of alternate strategies for HIV management in South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, India, and Brazil.
    Role: Co-Investigator

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
