Research project on thymic epithelial tumors. Thymic epithelial tumors are rare cancers of the chest that derive from the epithelial cells in the thymus that guide T-cell development, and the management of these tumors involves multidisciplinary collaboration between thoracic surgery, radiation oncology and medical oncology. This project seeks to characterize the clinicopathologic features associated with patient outcomes. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are interested in learning the principles of cancer diagnosis, staging and how these factors influence multidisciplinary management between oncology specialists. Details are as follows: Commitment: Following completion of CITI training on human subjects research and addition to IRB protocol, 2-5 hours per week of chart review to compile spreadsheet detailing essential characteristics of patients within the MGH experience. I anticipate initial chart review will take 4-6 months based on this weekly effort. Shadowing would be welcomed for those interested in expanding clinical exposure. Authorship: Opportunity for middle authorship on poster and manuscript submissions resulting from. For motivated individuals, I would be happy to discuss opportunities for involved student to lead primary analysis on select projects that could result in first-authorship. Prior Skills should include fluency in Microsoft Excel. No other prior skills needed.

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
