As part of the NIH-funded R01 grant, "A Layered Examination of the Patient Experience to Elucidate the Role of Palliative Care in Surgical Care for Seriously Ill Adults" (LEAPS) study exploring palliative care in surgery, the student would primarily support the work of Aim 3, an ethnographic study of palliative care in clinical settings. This would require observing interactions between providers, patients, and family/caregivers in clinics at sites across the MGB system, as well as interviewing patients and clinicians. Work for this aim includes regular weekly meetings about the ethnographic work as well as the study overall. Project updates will be provided to the broader research team at quarterly co-investigator meetings. The student will may also support other aims of the project, with primary responsibilities being directed at the ethnographic work.

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
