The multidisciplinary team at Center for Gender Surgery, along with the Department of Plastic and Oral Surgery at Boston Children's Hospital, has been offering Gender Affirmation Surgeries to the transgender community. As part of this work, we have established a dedicated research team studying how individual history and experience affect surgical outcomes and the effects of surgery on long-term psychosocial health and well-being. We are interested in recruiting students who can devote 6-12months to research. This could be a full time research year, or part-time while the student is still enrolled in classes. This opportunity will give the student the chance to be involved in multiple research projects related to gender affirming care. Student involvement will include recruitment, subject interaction, and data analysis, and students will be mentored in research methodology related to their projects and areas of interest. Students will have the opportunity to pursue epidemiologic research as part of a long-term cohort study and being involved in multiple projects thorough out their fellowship. The student will be expected to contribute authorship to several manuscripts over the course of the year and also present/submit a minimum of two meeting abstracts. (Student will be funded to attend meeting(s) where their abstracts are accepted.)

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
