A focus of our laboratory is the adaptive and regenerative processes contributing to tissue repair and regeneration. These processes typically involve blood vessel growth (angiogenesis) and changes in the organ surface (mesothelial-mesenchymal transition). The study of these processes involves a multi-scale approach: 1) the regulated expression of genes and molecules, 2) the interactive signaling communication between cells, and 3) the structural/biomechanical relationships leading to adult tissue remodeling (morphogenesis). A recent focus of our approach has been the use of biologic polymers(such as pectin) as tools to explore mesothelial-mesenchymal transition and other fundamental processes essential to normal tissue repair and regeneration. The perturbation of these processes is a major contributor to lung disease and lung cancer.

Newest   |   Oldest   |   Most Cited   |   Most Discussed   |   Timeline   |   Field Summary   |   Plain Text
PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
