    Accelerating Research Advancement for Investigators Underrepresented in Academia
    Role Description: An urgent need exists to promote and retain investigators from underrepresented backgrounds in the scientific areas supported by NIDDK. This project supports a comprehensive mentoring program for underrepresented investigators already funded by NIDDK that will provide multi-level mentoring, hands-on guidance in grant and manuscript writing, and a curriculum to ensure the skills necessary for academic success.

    Creating Opportunities for Underrepresented Researchers to Achieve Growth and Excellence (COURAGE)
    Role Description: Researchers from underrepresented backgrounds face significant challenges throughout their careers and leave academic research at a higher rate than majority peers. Our comprehensive career development program, COURAGE, will serve two cohorts of 10 researchers in obesity, nutrition, and diabetes who are from underrepresented backgrounds, providing skill building and leadership training, hands-on guidance in manuscript and grant writing, and multi-level mentoring to support career advancement and continued success in academic research.
