Overview
I am dual-boarded in both emergency medicine and critical care medicine and practice in the emergency department and intensive care units. My clinical research interests consist of sepsis, acute respiratory distress syndrome, COVID-19, and patient care improvement processes for critically ill patients being admitted from the ED to the ICU.

Since 2008 from the ED and in close collaboration with the ICU staff, I participated as site-PI for the Protocolized Care for Early Septic Shock trial to evaluate the role of protocolized, quantitative resuscitation treatments in the management of sepsis and septic shock. Additionally, I was the site-PI for three NIH-sponsored ProCESS ancillary studies evaluating the microcirculation and the long-term outcomes of acute kidney injury and host immune response.

Since 2009 from the SICU and in close collaboration with national ARDS investigators, I participated as the site-PI for the US Critical Illness and Injury Trial Group Lung Injury Prevention Study, which derived and validated the Lung Injury Prediction Score in patients at risk for ARDS. Currently, I am the Co-Lead for the Acute Lung Injury of New England clinical center and a Steering Committee member for the NIH-sponsored Prevention and Early Treatment of Acute Lung injury network, and the site-PI for the PETAL network trials.

Along with the existing collaborations with local, national, and international investigators and a robust research infrastructure already established as the Brigham Critical Care Research Collaborative and Consortium, we are prepared to consider participation in the next innovative project.

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
