A variety of studies related to HIV-1 drug resistance, including analysis of minority variants by next-generation sequencing; understanding fitness consequences of different combinations of mutations; clinical significance of low-level viremia; and determinants of chemokine receptor usage are ongoing in the lab. Students interested in laboratory-related work should expect to devote at least 6 months to the project. Projects based on a critical review of the literature in an area related to HIV therapeutics may also be arranged; such projects would require 4-6 months for completion.
