Mentoring Available: 07/01/12, Expires: 08/31/13 Most people with low vision (vision impairment) report that they have difficulty watching video on TV, computer, hand-held devices and at the cinema. To provide assistance, we are developing image enhancement methods based around electronic magnification. To develop and to demonstrate the benefit of these methods, we conduct vision and behavioral studies. Those behavioral studies involve both people with low vision and people with full sight, often with simulated vision impairment. Depending on expertise and interests, the student could work on a project that developed an image enhancement method or related components (software development) or on a project that assessed vision (visual psychophysics) or the benefit of a method (behavior).
