My laboratory is interested in the pathogenesis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. Our research has focused on the mechanisms by which the bacterium adapts to its environment. Our investigations have centered on analysis of transcription regulation by alternative sigma factors of M. tuberculosis, and characterization of signal transduction in this organism mediated by serine/threonine protein kinases.

Laboratory research investigating signaling pathways and transcription regulation in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Projects involve basic molecular mechanisms of these processes and investigation of their relevance to disease pathogenesis. Additional research in the laboratory related to screening for new TB drugs.
